The World Bank upgraded its 2026 Sub-Saharan Africa forecast to 4.3%, 0.3 percentage points above April. Ethiopia is among the upgraded economies.
ESS reports August inflation at 15.1% year over year, against July’s 15.3%. Prices rose 0.9% month over month.
NBE’s July decision raised its policy rate by 1 percentage point and reduced its FX commission from 2.5% to 1.5%. This is policy context, not a new announcement today.
